Grandsons' Football Scrimmage

I have two grandsons that play tackle football together.  Their team is composed of kids from age 9 to age 13.  The youngest grandson is only 9 and looks small compared to some of the other kids.  He likes to play on defense and rush the quarterback and running backs.  Today he was able to get in on the quarterback so many times that the other team's coach decided to start double-teaming him.  That worked briefly, but he was still able to get in the backfield and put some good hits on the quarterback who was a little slow getting up after the hard hit.

I was really proud of both boys.  My other grandson, on the team, plays quarterback.  He plays the position really well, and was able to run the ball effectively as well as complete several passes.  The scrimmage was very effective in that the boys were able to practice against a team of comparable ability and experience.  They were able to learn a little more about their positions and what they are expected to do.  They are going to scrimmage the same team next week.
